Save, Spend, Give

After much thought, we decided to start an allowance for the 3 munchkins.  Wyatt is way ready, Drake a little, Kenna probably not, but we determined it is too much headache to only do it for 1 or 2 of them.  They each have 3 banks labeled; Save, Spend & Give. Besides earning a small allowance each week, they can earn "extra" by doing above & beyond chores around the house.  The point of all this is to learn to save their "spend" money to reach a goal (something they want), save in their "save" jar long-term, and "give" away some.
Wyatt was all over this new concept right away.  He ran down to breakfast the day we started, wolfed down his food and immediately started in on the extra chores.  He cannot decide what he wants to save for first; new basketball, scooter, wii game,,,,?
Drake hopped on the bandwagon & wanted to help Wyatt clean & vacuum the playroom & share the 75 cents for that.  Wyatt was fine with that, until Drake wasn't doing his share.  Wyatt, "Drake, you aren't helping.  I'm not sharing the money!"  Drake, not phased, walks out of the room saying, "I'm going to go play."  But first, he gives Kenna the 25 cents he earned earlier for another chore.

Absence makes the heart grow founder

Drake and Peanut hadnt seen each other for about two days. Peanut, as usual, was waiting at the door when we returned.  This sweet reunion shows that since getting Peanut for his 4th birthday, his love for this cat has not dwindled in the least.

The Little Pack

Before school this morning, they had already been on their way to Disney World, stopped to save some 'pets' trapped on a broken down boat, which were on a Disney Cruise.
Sometimes its so hard to rain on their parade that is time to get their shoes on and walk to school. Kenna loves her "mom" time, but I think she would choose to have the brothers home and lose her "mom" time.  I'm afraid to ask her to verify this;)
As the played at today at Wasserbahn Water Park in Amana, Iowa, they defined "The Little Pack."  They went down the waterslides, waiting for each one to ride, exit, then they went up the stairs again, together.  We watched several times, as Wyatt came down first, then Drake, and those two preceeded to jump up and down and scurry around, waiting impatiently for Kenna to come down, so they could all go up together.  It took all they had in them to wait, but each and every time, they waited for her.  It was so sweet and the first time I saw over a great length of time or activity that they did not falter on their decision to run as a little pack.
Speaking of little pack, here they are, again and still, sleeping, as we refer to as, little sausages.  How long can we possibly keep this going? Someday, they will be too big to fit the "wrong" way in a queen or full size bed.  So far, they are cool with it.  After some minor tugging the blankets from side to side and arguing on who has more blanket than the other, they settle in, and as far as we can tell are happy to be together.
